November 2024

Hope you’re doing great and had an amazing Halloween!

We’ve been celebrating here at the Café for a while now with lots of decorations, sweet treats, and fun activities!

Were you celebrating with us?

During this festive time, we also decided to change the entrance floor at the Café.

Actually, the plan was made a while ago, but after some normal delays, we just finished it last week. Even though the timing wasn’t perfect, we’re super happy with the result. It may just be a floor, but it’s all about the details, and we still have a few more adjustments to make for a little spring (South America) refresh!

Halloween came and went quickly, followed by All Saints' Day.

This special day is celebrated in many countries in America on November 1st. It’s a time to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away.

People visit cemeteries, bring flowers, and light candles to pay their respects. In Bolivia, All Saints' Day, or "Todos Santos," is an important holiday. Families prepare traditional foods, set up altars with photos and offerings, and visit cemeteries to share food and stories with the spirits of their loved ones.

Here are 5 facts about All Saints' Day in Bolivia:

On All Saints' Day, the Cementerio General turns into a lively and colorful place, filled with flowers, food, and music, creating a unique atmosphere of remembrance and celebration.

Las Ñatitas

If you’re still around after All Saints' Day, there’s another fascinating tradition on November 8th.

Las Ñatitas is a unique celebration where people honor human skulls, believed to have protective powers. Families bring decorated skulls to cemeteries or homes, offering flowers, cigarettes, and food to show gratitude for protection and blessings throughout the year. This blend of ancient Andean and Catholic customs creates a tradition you won’t want to miss!
