This is the first travel letter from La Paz, Bolivia

This is the first travel letter from La Paz, Bolivia. I'm Elin, the person behind these words. I have been living in La Paz, Bolivia for 14 years. I initially came here to work with a Swedish tour company and decided to take a short break to study some Spanish. Fourteen years later, I'm still here, married with two kids, and working with travel, food, and tourism every day. I am also the founder of Café del Mundo, which is more than just a café. We serve travelers from around the world with global flavors but we are also a travel hub where people can meet and get inspired for their next adventure.

In our weekly newsletter, I want to provide you with travel tips, ideas, weekly travel updates, and inspiration to explore La Paz and Bolivia. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us via WhatsApp TRAVEL DEL MUNDO

Welcome aboard, and let's explore this amazing world together!

Today, on this sunny morning, while enjoying my first cappuccino of the day, I want to share with you a bit about Bolivian dance culture and one of the coolest dance events coming up on May 25th. Traditional dances with their traditional music are of great importance in Bolivia. If you are in the city this week, you are in luck.

On May 25th, you can enjoy El Gran Poder, the biggest dance festival in La Paz, where thousands of dancers will perform in the streets, proudly showcasing the traditions and cultures of the city. Check out our video to see the preparations for this event.

El Gran Poder will start around 11 AM and continue until late at night. It's always a good idea to enjoy the event in the afternoon. In many places, you can rent a chair for a few dollars to watch the show. Vendors will be around selling beer, drinks, and traditional food. You can also take a break and return later for your chair at Calle Illampu, a calmer place to watch the dance, or go to Camacho Street , the main street for the dancers where they are likely to perform at their best.

Take a hat, sunblock, sunglasses, and water, and you are set! Of course, bring your camera for unforgettable moments, but it can be crowded, so always keep it in sight, and also bring cash to pay for any food, drinks, or souvenirs.
