hot chocolate season is here! christmas 2024
December 2024

Christmas is just around the corner, and that feels amazing.
Hope you’re feeling the same! What gives you the real Christmas spirit?
Is it people, places, or maybe food? For me, it’s always about the people I have around me. But when you live far from the country you were born in, there are little details that really bring that Christmas feeling back.
For me, it’s cozy nights with candles that smell like cinnamon or, even better, the scent of a Christmas tree.
Add some gingerbread cookies, rice porridge with cinnamon, and, of course, Christmas music, and the holiday magic is there. Growing up in cold, dark Sweden, I actually prefer December to be a little dark and rainy—it just feels more like Christmas that way!
Christmas in Bolivia is a mix of Catholic traditions and indigenous culture, which makes it truly special.
People celebrate with La Misa de Gallo (Midnight Mass) and create beautiful pesebres (nativity scenes) in their homes. Some families also make small offerings to Pachamama (Mother Earth) to thank her for the year and to ask for blessings for the next one.
This mix of traditions makes Christmas in Bolivia both spiritual and full of culture.

Holiday Season 〰️
In Bolivia, families gather on December 24th to share a big meal, exchange presents, and enjoy the evening together. Many go to La Misa de Gallo (Midnight Mass) to celebrate the birth of Jesus, and most homes have pesebres full of love and meaning.
The 24th is also when a lot of Christmas shopping happens, so markets and stores are packed with people buying gifts and preparing food.
If you’re in La Paz, Bolivia, in December, you have to try these Christmas treats!

As mentioned, Christmas can be a hard time to be far from home, especially for travelers.
That’s why we’ve decided to keep Tambo, our sister restaurant, open a little later on December 24th. With Bolivian traditions, food, live music, and Christmas dances, we want to create a space where anyone can come and enjoy some holiday cheer without feeling alone.
No matter where in the world you are, one of the most important things at Christmas is to not feel lonely. So, we hope to see you around.
We hope to see you in La Paz this magical December, soaking up the holiday spirit and creating unforgettable memories!
